WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very small needles into specific points in the body. Dr. Manejias has been practicing the art of acupuncture since 2007. Trained at the Helms Medical Institute in collaboration with UCLA and Stanford Schools of Medicine, she combines Traditional Chinese meridian focused treatments with Medical Myofascial based needle techniques that are optimized for specific acute and chronic pain conditions. She incorporates trigger point release therapy such as dry needling with very small sterile surgical stainless steel single use needles to release tight and painful muscle points that can radiate pain and contribute to joint and spine related pain. Dr. Manejias is trained in superficial and deep dry needling techniques and dry needling of taut bands of muscle (or trigger points) as originally introduced by Dr. Janet Travell and Dr. David Simons. More advanced dry needling techniques such as peri-neural, tendon, teno-osseous junctions and bone (osteopuncture) may be utilized. Electrical stimulation of specific acupuncture points is often used if appropriate based on your condition.
